The Largest Book Club In The World
Onsite are displayed testimonials, press releases and articles about BookCrossing. The site is easy to navigate and its concept has been welcomed by many people worldwide. Those who are addicted to books and desire to spread the joy, register books of their choice in the website. The registered books are given individual identification numbers and the members have the option to release the books in the “wild”, usually public places such as bus stops, restaurants, waiting rooms in hospitals etc. They may also pass the books to friends or charities. Although there is no guarantee that the progress of the book will be traced, they continue to release books doing the community a service, enabling other people to read popular books.

Onsite you may browse members by state, city, country, search for members, find out who has registered the most number of books, who has released the maximum number of books, learn which member has referred the most number of members, learn more about the latest members etc.

BookCrossers may browse through book catalogues, browse though all categories displayed, search for a particular book and contact that member to find out if it is possible to get hold of that book through systems such as Bookrings or Bookrays or trades.

Members may look up the list of the most recently released books and the most recently caught book, the most traveled books, the most registered book etc.. Members can print blank or numbered labels for the books that they wish to release. They may make journal entries online, register and notify when they have released the books, members who are running out of books may also buy books through affiliate sites helping the site generate some commission.

Members on the lookout for a particular book may go hunting for it after its release. Many seem to enjoy hunting for the books in the location that they were released in. Some members try to get back the books they released just to learn how many entries were made! Some authors release books to entice members who have read reviews by other members to buy their books.

Members may interact with each other through forums and emails helping the like-minded find companions that share the same addiction, books!
